SPECIALIZING IN NATURAL TATTOO DESIGNS AND PIERCINGS

Katie Salminen co-owns and operates Asylum Studios with her longtime friend and business partner Daniel Jones. Originally from Windsor Locks Connecticut, Katie has lived in the greater Roanoke area her entire adult life, and this is where she began her piercing career in 2003. In 2009 she began tattooing also and still maintains licensure for both, but for several years has focused primarily on tattooing and managing the business.

She truly enjoys doing both color and black and gray tattoos but does specify black and gray to be her forte. Katie is versatile and skilled in a variety of tattoo design styles and subject matters, but she most prefers drawing, painting, and tattooing “natural” designs. Such as trees, plants, flowers, birds, animals, landscapes, etc.
